Launch of Valliappa Foundation’s Sona FM

A community radio station for the Salem region has been brought live by the Valliappa Foundation and the Sona College of Technology. On November 21, Sona FM 89.6 broadcasted for the first time.

The launching was announced formally through a public event at the Valliappa auditorium in Salem which was attended by various dignitaries including TN Minister for Municipal Administration K N Nehru, Mr. A Ramachandran, Mayor of Salem, Mr. SR Parthiban, MP Salem, Mr. R Rajendran & Mr. R Arul, both MLAs, and Mr. K Karmegam, District Collector.

Speaking at the launching event, Chocko Valliappa, Vice Chairman, Sona Group of Institutions, that Sona FM is a voice for the local community and the purpose is to create a better tomorrow for them.

Sona FM 89.6 aspires to provide quality infotainment to the people living in and around Salem. Salem Government officials will share recent initiatives for the benefit of the people. Frequently, local achievers will share their success stories to motivate the local youth.

Sona FM will broadcast live every day from 10 am to 12 pm. The repeat telecasts will take place at 4 pm and 8 pm on the same day.
